Important Uniform and Electronic Device Information from Mr. Lockley:

Date: December 30, 2009

To: The Parents/Guardians

From: Mr. Greg Lockley

Career Connections Charter High School is readdressing the uniform policy already in place with the start of the second quarter. The policy will be strictly enforced now that all the students have had an adequate amount of time to place and receive their uniform orders from Schoolbelles. Again, CCCHS students must arrive to school in uniform in the morning and remain in uniform throughout the day with the exception of their Physical Education classes during the first and fourth nine weeks.

Due to the high pricing of the uniform pants at Schoolbelles; CCCHS has amended the student uniform slightly. This is in attempts to work with the financial burden for some of our families. Students must have the following uniform pieces:

The following items are required uniform pieces that must be purchased from Schoolbelles, for both the male and female students:

White Oxford button down dress shirt with school logo

Polo shirt with school logo. The colors are either maroon or white. The polos come in either short or long sleeved. We recommend at least one of each sleeve length with the cold weather approaching. Students may wear only white or maroon shirts underneath the school uniform shirts.

The following items are required uniform pieces that maybe purchased from other retailers but must follow the explicit uniform guidelines:

For both male and female students: Khaki or Black colored slacks (No cargo pants, No Dickie brand pants, No colored jeans, No capris)

Female Students: may wear as an optional item a Khaki colored skort. (No Dresses)

Any “Optional” items must be purchased through Schoolbelles so as the school logo is present and a uniformed appearance remains among the students.

No outerwear such as jackets or hoodies will be permitted to be worn over the uniforms throughout the day.

Students are required to store their jackets and hoodies in their lockers at the beginning of each day. They are not permitted to wear these items to the classrooms or in the halls. All students are given a locker with a school issued combination lock so that their items are safely stored away throughout the school day.

CCCHS students who do not arrive to school in proper dress uniform will be sent home each day. There will be no alternative items given out by the school to get the students into daily dress uniform.

In addition to the uniform policy CCCHS Administration would like to address the electronics policy of the school. No electronic devices such as cell phones or mp3 players should be carried to the classrooms throughout the day. These items should not be in use or visible to the staff for any reason. Again the students are issued lockers to stow their belongings, and this includes their electronic devices.

If a student is caught using or carrying these devices, the school will confiscate the items from the student. The first offense will result in confiscation of these items for the day by the teacher, but will be returned to the student upon school dismissal (2:46pm). A detention may also be issued to the student by the teacher. A second offense will result in the confiscation of these devices at which time they will be given to an administrator. The items will remain with the administration until a parent or guardian comes to the school to retrieve the items and has a parent/teacher conference regarding the electronics policy.

We appreciate your assistance in addressing these matters at home as we will address them here in the building. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me here at 412-682-1816 x 144.

Thank you
