Three Career Connections Charter High School seniors have completed the application process and have been accepted into the New Century Careers Machinist Program. This program is supported and developed by over 60 Pittsburgh based technology companies to meet the demand for highly skilled labor. Once the students have completed the program they will be qualified as apprentice machinists. The machinist apprenticeship program will involve 5 months of classroom and hands-on training at the New Century Careers School on Pittsburgh’s South Side. The three students who have been accepted are: Jordan Bell, Kyle Burton, and Mike Bickel. The students were required to pass a three hour written exam. The course will begin for Jordan and Kyle in September 2008; Mike Bickel will follow in January 2009. ***** |
